Sprint 3 Mobile Game Development

Title: Sprint 3 Recap: Meltdown Mobile Game Development

Welcome back to another exciting update on the development journey of Meltdown, our thrilling mobile game! In Sprint 3, we've been hard at work ironing out bugs, improving the user interface, introducing exciting new gameplay elements, and collaborating closely with our talented team members, Andrew and Dominic. Here's a detailed look at what went down during this sprint.

Bug Squashing: AvailMoney Glitch

One of the primary focuses of Sprint 3 was to address a pesky bug that had been bothering our players. The issue revolved around AvailMoney, which is the in-game currency players earn as they progress. Previously, when AvailMoney surpassed 200, it would trigger a glitch that reset the currency to 0. This was an obviously frustrating experience for our players, and our priority was to resolve this issue promptly.

Our development team delved deep into the codebase, meticulously tracing the source of the problem. After identifying the root cause, we implemented a fix that ensured AvailMoney no longer resets to 0 when it surpasses the 200 mark. This fix significantly improved the gameplay experience, allowing players to accumulate their hard-earned currency without any hiccups.

Shop Menu Overhaul

A crucial aspect of any mobile game is the user interface, and we understood that the Shop Menu needed a facelift to provide a more immersive and engaging experience. In Sprint 3, we dedicated time and effort to revamping the Shop Menu to make it look and feel more like a genuine in-game shop.

We paid attention to details such as the layout, color scheme, and visual elements to create a visually appealing and intuitive Shop Menu. The new design not only enhances the overall aesthetics of the game but also helps players navigate the shop more smoothly, making it easier for them to purchase items and upgrades.

Introducing the Power Breaker

In Meltdown, we constantly strive to keep the gameplay fresh and exciting. To achieve this, we introduced a new Shop item called the "Power Breaker" in Sprint 3. This item is a game-changer that enhances the player's total output and income by a whopping 4x for a duration of 90 seconds. After the 90-second timer runs out, the power boost wears off, adding an element of strategy and excitement to the game.

The Power Breaker not only provides a temporary advantage but also encourages players to strategize their usage for maximum benefit. This addition received positive feedback from our beta testers, and we believe it adds an exciting new dimension to the game.

New Disaster Possibilities

Adding unpredictability to the game is essential to keep players engaged and challenged. In Sprint 3, we introduced two new disaster possibilities to Meltdown, adding an extra layer of excitement and strategy.

The first disaster randomly turns off a generator, forcing players to react quickly and allocate resources to get the power back up and running. This unexpected event adds a sense of urgency and keeps players on their toes, making the game more thrilling.

The second disaster is equally challenging, as it cuts both the player's outputs and AvailMoney in half. This double whammy forces players to adapt their strategies and decision-making, making the gameplay experience more dynamic and engaging.

RandomEvent Buff

I also implemented a new RandomEvent. This RandomEvent has a 5% chance of hitting and lasts for 3 minutes. This RandomEvent adds your total Output and Income by 4 allowing you to earn more money but with this can cause a disaster due to you increasing your availMoney and by upgrading generators since your income to improved. This adds cautiousness to the player to make sure they use the Shop Menu for a tool that can prevent a disaster with this new buff.

Acknowledging Our Team

None of these achievements would have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our team members, Andrew and Dominic. Their expertise, commitment, and collaboration have been instrumental in making Sprint 3 a resounding success. Andrew's exceptional ways to improve his coding helped out because he starting to learn how to code, he assigned himself some do-able tasks for himself but also contributed to a smoother development process overall. Dominic's creative flair brought life to the 3D models in making what a generator looks like, making it a visually stunning and user-friendly experience for our players. I really do appreciate all of their work as in Sprint 3 I believe it was a total success for all of us in what they are capable of doing.

What's Next?

With Sprint 3 behind us, we're eagerly looking forward to the next phase of development. We're continually listening to player feedback during playtests with the class and taking it to heart as we go deeper into making Meltdown the best it can be. Our roadmap includes exciting plans for new features, additional items in the shop, and more disaster scenarios to challenge players' strategies further. We're also working on enhancing the game's graphics and sound to create an even more immersive experience.

In conclusion, Sprint 3 has been a significant milestone in the evolution of Meltdown, marked by bug fixes, visual enhancements, and the introduction of exciting new elements. I am super grateful for my team in our game. As we venture into the future sprints, our commitment to delivering an exceptional gaming experience remains committed.
